Microstrip antennas
The commonly used microstrip antenna is a thin dielectric substrate, one side is attached to a thin metal layer as a ground plate, and the other side is made of a certain shape of metal patch by photolithography etching, and the patch is fed by microstrip line, coaxial probe or electromagnetic coupling, which constitutes a microstrip antenna.
Advantages and disadvantages of microstrip antennas
Microstrip antenna is a new type of antenna gradually developed in the middle and late twentieth century, because of its small size, low cost, firm structure and simple technology, etc., it can also easily realize linear polarization or circular polarization and dual-frequency operation, so it is widely used in communications, broadcasting and aerospace and other fields.
Compared with commonly used antennas, it has the following advantages:
Small size, light weight, low profile, can be conformal with the carrier, and in addition to the lead hole at the feeding point, it does not destroy the mechanical structure of the carrier, which is particularly beneficial for high-speed aircraft. Electrically diverse. The maximum radiation direction of different design microstrip elements can be adjusted from the side emission to the end emission range, which is easy to obtain various polarizations, and the specially designed microstrip elements can also work in dual or multi-frequency. It can be integrated with active components and circuits as a unified component, so it is suitable for large-scale production, simplifies the production and debugging of the whole machine, and greatly reduces the cost.
